Functional Safety Manager (m/w)

Position Summary:
The project functional safety manager is responsible for leading safety related activities on safety critical systems/products and ensures products, processes and work products are ISO26262 compliant. The project functional safety manager works with the customers’ safety organizations as well as Fluid Pressure Controls Groups product development teams to ensure the functional safety process is executed and documented. Specific work products include the product architecture, safety plan, preliminary hazard analysis, safety requirements, safety analysis and safety verification and validation activities. Some of the further responsibilities are:

Independent and cost-conscious processing of customer and innovation projects
Technical responsibility for project documents and content in the area of functional safety
Compliance with the client`s procedural guidelines and work instructions in the project work

Key Responsibilities:

Analysis and evaluation of customer-specific safety requirements
Analyze impact of ISO26262 releases for FPC/MPT and create Functional Safety awareness across departments
Perform safety management activities Functional Safety according to relevant standards during all project phases (concept, product development and production)
Develop safety architectures and safety plans to ensure compliance with ISO26262
Lead and coordinate creation of functional safety documentation according ISO 26262
Conduct of hazard analyzes and risk assessments and documentation of the resulting safety objectives in consultation with the customer
Management and moderation of safety analysis on the system, subsystem, HW- and SW-level
Support in creating functional and technical safety concepts
Generation of safety case
Support for series production process engineering, purchasing and quality in the production, operation and maintenance planning with focus on the functional safety of the product
Assistance in carrying out functional safety assessments and functional safety audits
Conduct reviews and audits with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development cycles
Implementation and / or participation in analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, FMEDA
Collaborate with project managers, development team and customers on Functional Safety
Act as main customer contact related to safety topics to optimize the cooperation and expertise regarding OEM processes and strategies
Support teams with legal compliance elicitation and legal/safety problem solving

Your Profile:

Diploma/Master in engineering, electrical, mechanical or mechatronics
Min 3 years relevant work experience, in product development (ideally in automotive safety related products)
Detailed knowledge and experience with ISO 26262 (preferably ISO 26262 Safety Certification)
Proven experience in creating safety concepts and analyses (FMEA, FMEDA and FTA)
Knowledge of product development life cycle with respect to systems, electrical or software development
Knowledge of Requirements Management tools (e.g., DOORS, PTC Integrity)
Knowledge of development in the embedded environment
Knowledge of model-based programming and test methods
Extended knowledge in Software Quality and process (e.g., SPICE, CMMI)
Knowledge on Electrical Pumps / fans is an asset
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Good technical leadership, planning and organization/control skills
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
Fluent in spoken and written English (German knowledge is a plus), travel ability and resilience
